Odours removal of unwanted smells for a variety of reasons

Odour Control: There are many forms of mal odour within properties, some are from chemical or food origin, but the most common forms are from bacteria related contamination. These are generally most pronounced when humidity or moisture levels are high and where the property has poor air circulation. They are free of symptoms when not in that building. While symptoms vary from person to person, they may include headache, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, nausea and eye/nose/throat irritation. Having your home or workplace assessed is the best way of determining whether or not your indoor environment may be affecting your health.

What is Sick Building Syndrome?

Sick building syndrome describes what happens when a combination of indoor air toxins and lack of ventilation meet the human respiratory system. Because the list of pollutants is so many, and their effects so varied, sick building syndrome has a multitude of symptoms and can rear its head in many ways. In general, however, the most prevalent symptoms include eye irritation and nonspecific upper respiratory symptom.  Pollutants such as dust,mould, harmful organisms, bacteria, VOCs, toxic gases, harmful compounds, and chemical vapors can all produce adverse effects that cause sick building syndrome. The combination of one or more of these pollutants can multiply the problem, any compound that can pollute the air can be a factor of sick building syndrome, they need not be inorganic “factory” chemicals. Fungi are “natural” but also an especially major biological pollutant in the indoor environment. As long as moisture and oxygen are available, mould is able to grow.This leads to it being found on nearly any surface in a building, including carpets, ceiling tiles, insulation’s, any surfaces, wallpapers, or air conditioning systems. Indoor environments that provide exposure to fungus can cause health problems such as allergy, asthma, pneumonia, airway irritation, and many other different toxic effects

Although specific causes of SBS are unknown, below are some of the contributing factors to Sick Building Syndrome.

1. Chemical contaminants from outdoor sources. Outdoor pollutants such as motor vehicle exhausts, plumbing vents, and building exhausts. 2. Chemical contaminants from indoor sources. Indoor pollutants come from adhesives, upholstery, carpeting, copy machines and cleaning agents. 3. Biological contaminants. Biological contaminants are pollen, bacteria, viruses, and moulds. These contaminants are trapped and accumulated in humidifiers and ducts because buildings were built tight for energy saving purposes. These contaminants can cause fever, cough and allergic reactions to building occupants. 4. Inadequate ventilation. In order to improve energy efficiency, building designers make more buildings airtight. However, airtight and poorly ventilated buildings results ill health symptoms related to sick building syndrome.
